Very stiff brush, I find it uncomfortable As a painting contractor, I’ve been using various Purdy brushes for years and love them, except they can lose their shape and are not the easiest to clean. So I’m always on the look out for alernatives. Stumbled upon this brush on Amazon and the overwhelmingly positive reviews, so decided to get three of them. Well after one day of cutting in walls against ceilings and trim, I’ve decided it’s not for me.I’ve also realized what makes a cheap paint brush and what separates the likes of Purdy from the rest. Not load volume. Not straighter lines. Not faster speed. Not durability. But COMFORT.This brush fails in that regard miserably, it is just a regular stiff brush that is worth no more than it costs. For someone that uses paintbrushes most days, very often all day, the importance of comfort cannot be overexaggerated. In all my years of using Purdy brushes, I’ve never felt any pain in my hand/wrist from cutting in all day. With this Silvertip, I was almost in tears by…

Great Brush; Holds a Lot of Paint I used this brush to cut in relatively dark wall colors against a white ceiling, so accuracy was important. When I first opened the package, I was a little skeptical because the brush seemed very thick, even at the tip. I soon realized that this thickness was my friend because the brush will hold a lot of paint without dripping. I found that I could draw a cut line up to 36″ long before I had to refill the brush. This made the hundreds of feet of ceiling cut-in go relatively quickly. Why 4 stars and not 5? I bought 3 of these brushes and one of them shed clumps of bristles for the first couple of days I used it. Eventually the shedding stopped, but it was pretty annoying.
